Voice of Reason

I found the following message embedded in an e-mail I received the other day. It was sent to me by my boss, another freedom lover. The author of the e-mail had added a little of their own opinion, obviously since the below was written before Obama officially took office and they wanted to add some current relevance. There are a few minor things I might be open to debate, but for the remaining 98%, Amen to that!

I Will Not Unite Behind Obama!

I would like to add that we need a mobilized defense if we are going to bring our country back to it's Constitution. We can not sit on the sidelines and wait to see what happens. A overly vocal minority has managed to service their agenda because they are mobilized and the conservative majority has been historically silent. Stand up and spread the word. Don't be ashamed to believe in what our founding fathers believed, and don't care if others disagree. If they are a brother, you will have respect for each others opinions and respectfully disagree. If they can't be respectful and disagree respectfully, they are the enemy. Yes, I said "they are the enemy". Make no doubt about it. They view us, (anyone who disagrees with them) in no different light (i.e. the Bill Maher types on the far left). This is a fight and saving our freedoms is why I post here. I hope that I can encourage at least one person to voice their opinion and help us all regain control of our government before it gains total control of us. In the famous words of Mr. Henry, give me liberty or give me death.

Denny's Gets Sued

A NJ Man is suing Denny's for unsafe levels of sodium in the food. The claim specifically states the some of the food has more than 100% the RDA levels of sodium. That apparently violates some NJ law. I wonder how many restaurants are serving food with more than 100% the RDA levels of sodium. This could be the tip of the iceberg. Glenn Beck showed a platter of the suspect menu offering on his show Friday. He summed it up well. First, if you look at the platter and thinks it's healthy for you, maybe it's God's way of sorting out the stupid people. Second, you don't have to eat it, it's a freedom of choice thing. Who could really argue that this country does not need tort reform?

DeMint on Obama's Health Care Mission

It is a week old, and some of the dynamics have changed a little, but the message is still relevant. Jim DeMint makes some points that should be debated and considered. And notice the mention of eliminating frivolous lawsuits (i.e. torte reform). I finished reading his book "Saving Freedom" last night. Jim DeMint may not be the perfect politician, but he gets it. He is a freedom fighter and gets my support for trying to move our country back to a safer balance between government and freedom.

It's Tort Reform, Stupid

Instead of taking over and destroying the greatest health care system on the planet, let's talk tort reform. That's right folks, step right up and hear all about it - tort reform is the single biggest area for health care reform that the Federal and State Governments could enact and guess what? It doesn't cost anything! Shocking I know, but all the LAWYERS in government need to change the way our judicial system processes medical related lawsuits.

The cost of malpractice insurance is one of the largest costs a doctor's office has to bear - more than rent and salaries. The expensive tests they order are part of the defensive medicine practice, would cease. The class action lawsuits advertised during daytime TV - gone for the most part. The lawyers are getting rich, not the doctors.

Fix two things - Loser pays, where if you sue someone and loose, you pay for their legal costs. Takes care of stupid and frivolous lawsuits. Cap punitive damages - if the doctor is guilty of malpractice the patient should be compensated maximum for their lifetime of lost income and punitive damages capped at $250K. We should not be in the practice of making people rich from these lawsuits.

The have capped the punitive damages in Texas and it has been wildly successful. Kansas has also adopted similar measures and have seen their costs go down and doctors come back to the state.

Last thing - get the states and the governments out of insurance writing. For example, in Virginia it is a state mandatory provision for all health insurance to cover cranial prosthetic - you know what that is? A wig, a freaking wig. So Joe 22 year old healthy guy goes in to buy health insurance and he HAS to have wig coverage - that drives the cost up for Joe, even though he will never use it.

I have a radical idea? What if I want to start a charity to help people that have lost their hair buy wigs? Wouldn't that be better? But of course, after I pay my 60% taxes, I can't give to the charity anyway - cause hey, "I'm just trying to spread the wealth around".

A Right, or a Wrong?

I heard that part of what Congress is trying to do with pushing this 1000 page health bill through - which of course no one will have time to read and which will ABSOLUTELY have to be passed before they go on break - is that they are ensuring the wording makes health care a responsibility and a RIGHT. I'm not going to bother with the lunacy of making it a responsibility, but I take issue with them trying to establish it as a right. I was always taught a right was something that didn't deny anyone else their rights, like the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. By them mandating other people pay for this "right" they are taking away from others; classic redistribution of wealth. No surprise though, this is what was promised. I'm just offended it's being labeled as a "right." I also learned that true fundamental rights were endowed by a divine creator, not by the "Anointed One." What's next? The "right" to a job? Congress already has the "right" to be idiots. We also have the "right" to fire them. I suggest we start doing just that.

Insanity

Albert Einstein, arguably one of the smartest men to have lived in the last 500 - 5000 years, defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The First Stimulus Bill has done nothing to stimulate the economy and now we hear murmurs out of Washington that President Obama wants to pass another one? Is this insanity? You be the judge

An Inspiring Story

Butch Lumpkin's story is a good example of what America should be, not what it is becoming. Every person is created equal by our Creator and it is up to us, individually, to make the decisions that create success for us and our families. Here is a man who many would say was not created equal. Watch the video and see if you think he would agree. A desire to succeed and a strong work ethic is what too many Americans have lost. His story is one of liberty, not dependency.

Spaghetti Mess

If you have not seen the health care flow chart that has come out as a result of the plan submitted by the Democrats, you may want to take a look. While this doesn't surprise me, it is a perfect example of why the government can't run anything efficiently and has bankrupted Social Security (although the SSA still has enough money to drop $750,000 large on a retreat to a fancy 4 star hotel in AZ), Medicare, and ruined attempts to run numerous other social programs.

I submit my plan. Give me my share of the money in the form of a tax cut. Let me choose whether or not to be responsible and carry the insurance of my choosing, or be irresponsible, take my chances, and bankrupt my family if a catastrophic event happens. I send my money to the insurance company. I go to the doctor of choice when I need to see one. The doctor's office files a claim with my insurance provider, they send a check, I cover the difference, and it is done. Much simpler than what we see in front of us with the Democrats plan.

The Devil in the Dedication

Have you ever found out something that was so outrageous about someone, even if you didn't like them, that you struggled with the possibility that it CAN'T be true? Such was the case yesterday when I stumbled upon some information so disturbing, I had to confirm it from several sites before I myself would believe it. How this is not common knowledge has to be Supernatural, there is no other explanation for it.

Many of you know about Saul Alinsky, his writings, books, his methods. You may also know that two of his prominent disciples are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Further, this method and playbook are outlined in a book called the Rule Book for Radicals and is being employed with textbook efficiency on America right now. If any of the above pieces of information are new to you, then I encourage you to do some research on the Internet and you will find hundreds of sites, blogs, links, and videos elaborating on this subject. Of note, Acorn, was born out of this movement, but that is another blog all together.

So you may wonder, what was it I found so unbelievable about the above when it has been well reported and covered by the bloggers and Fox News? I will tell you.... the dedication in the book Rules for Radicals. The handbook of our sitting president, is dedicated to Satan. Lest you think I jest, see the below:

Rocket Science?

I think some libs do know what they have done, but they are reluctant to admit it because they want to avoid admitting error in supporting King Barack. They were fooled by "hope and change." Others (the folks of envy and class warfare etc.) love what is happening. The funny thing is the wealthy/really wealthy whom the left despises most are pretty much insulated from this nonsense because of their wealth, power, and influence. So, once again the lib approach only hurts the folks they say they want to help most, the middle class and the poor. Then again, do the libs in power REALLY want to help the poor and middle class? I think if one were to analyze the stimulus bunk for 5 minutes with a modicum of intellectual integrity, that question is easily answered. If you took one tenth of the stimulus money and pushed it back to "we the people" (it is our money), then how much could the economy have been stimulated almost immediately? This is not rocket science...

It takes a parent

Responsibility. It is a simple word really, but why does it seem that nobody wants to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions?

My wife, one of my kids and I were having a nice dinner at a somewhat upscale Italian restaurant the other night. There were two table near us with screaming kids aged 2 - 4 that the parents just let scream. I mean SCREAM. In fact, one set of parents laughed at their kid each time she screamed, they were encouraging bad behavior. And don't think for a moment that I have a problem with the kid. The issue is the parent who does not or will not accept the responsibility they took on to mold a good citizen of the world when they decided it was a good idea to reproduce. Being a parent is hard, it is not for the weak of heart, but if you raise your children well, the reward is huge.

If you let your young kid misbehave and use bad manners etc, what you end up with is an older kid / young adult who is incapable of discerning when they are using poor manners and judgment. the example of this was at the next table - college age boy, hat on backward, elbows on the table shoveling food in his mouth while his parents sat across from him and watched... If I did that as a young man my parents would have corrected me at once, for that matter - they still would.

I think back to Hillary Clinton's book "It Takes a Village." I wish. If it took a village, I would have told the young kids to stop their screaming and then taken action to achieve that objective without further delay. same thing goes for hat on (backwards) at the table boy. Show some class - remember when we had class?

Impasse

This is a long read, so stop now if you do not care to make a stand for liberty. In taking time to read other blogs and websites, both liberal and conservative (as well as the supposedly unbiased), I have found that there are ideals and beliefs held by each that are constant and unwavering, but polarizing opposites.

In principle, liberals believe that it is the responsibility of the government to guarantee fairness and equality to all citizens through government action and programs leading ultimately to government dependence. Liberals are also willing to strip the moral fabric away to avoid being politically incorrect or insensitive to the views of others who do not subscribe to the traditional moral and ethical beliefs that the majority subscribe to, an all inclusive society you may say. Examples abound. Marriage is one. When you allow nontraditional unions access to the institution of marriage, you strip marriage of what made it the very special institution that those nontraditional partners aspired to have. But dumbing down the institution strips it of the 'specialness' until it is no longer a big deal to be married. Affirmative action is another. What value can be derived from "success" based purely on government intervention and, ultimately, dependence? Welfare, food stamps, and others are further examples of the attempt to make life fair for all participants regardless of their, more often than not, own poor decisions and lack of goals or drive that got them where they are. And more government dependence to go along with it. We have even dumbed down the institution of being American to the point where it is not as revered in the world as it was just a short time ago. There are too many core beliefs to list. Books are available that illustrate the liberal agenda far better than I can. I definitely encourage people to understand what that agenda is and decide if you truly are a liberal minded person. IS Socialism a belief you embrace wholeheartedly?

In principle, conservatives believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to provide for themselves, that we are all created equal and have equal opportunity for success. That it is ultimately by our own decisions and effort that we succeed and reap the rewards, or fail and suffer the consequences. In failure we hopefully learn from our lessons and rise up again to accept the freedoms that our Father has bestowed upon us and try again. That government should merely protect our freedom and allow the individual to succeed, or fail, on their own. How many examples exist of success stories arising from humble and meager beginnings? How many examples of failure are there when an individual had all the trappings for success from the time of birth? Equal opportunity for success exist, some just don't like to accept that with it comes equal opportunity for failure. We believe in traditional values and morals. We believe in helping our lesser privileged neighbor, even when they're difficult circumstances are due to their own poor decisions. We believe that more often than not those who are left alone to prosper by their own hard efforts and good decisions will extend a helping hand to the community, both locally and broader. But we do not believe everyone should have equal rewards, only equal opportunity. Ultimately you reap what you sow. I am certain there are far fewer books on this subject, but I encourage everyone to read the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution to see if you believe in liberty.

Do not misconstrue my use of liberal and conservative to mean Democrat and Republican. I believe we will see a shift in that political landscape as politicians try to decide where it is safest to stand with respect to their constituents, not their party. Our career politicians have a lot at stake and they will practice self preservation. Not all Democrats will support a shift toward a socialistic agenda, just as some Republicans may. That is why it is so important for the majority opinion to be voiced. Both sides believe they are right, fine. But one side is more right than the other based on the populist opinion. And I believe that side, the majority, supports liberty. Do not allow a vocal minority to create a future of debt and government control for the majority who still hold the value of liberty above the so called safety net of big government.

The USA grew and prospered during its first 150 years to became a nation of great power, while the government grew very little. This was due to hard work ethics and an adherence to traditional values and beliefs. In our last 75 years we have witnessed a general decline in wealth, respect, and power as we have watched the government grow and our debt become enormous. We have also seen a decline in what society accepts as acceptable behavior. I am fully aware of the many dark chapters in our nations history, and that illustrates why there is a need for central government: to ensure equal opportunity by passage and enforcement of laws. But the government cannot intervene and establish social programs and dictate what is fair. Show me one example of government truly fixing a problem with a social program. Show me one program that the government has ever successfully implemented and run efficiently and within any reasonable budget. And even if you do, show me how it preserved freedom for any individual as opposed to fostering dependence on the central government to take care of you.

I challenge any liberal reading this to debate me as to whether they are truly willing to pay more taxes and further reduce their personal wealth to "ensure" all Americans have access to health insurance. Anyone who believes that the rich will foot the bill and the middle class (i.e. everyone who doesn't think they are rich or poor) will never feel the effects of taxation for the liberal cause is living in a world full of delusion. Eventually the "rich" will take their money, talents, businesses, and taxes elsewhere. You will never tax a country into prosperity, ever. Show me one example anywhere in the world anytime in the history of the world. Additionally, explain to me how your core beliefs preserve liberty and freedom in any way.

We, the founding fathers of this website agreed to stay away from Red Herring issues, but the more I read and hear, the less I think it matters. Left and right, liberal and conservative, will never meet in the middle. Some will be converted by the other side, but in the end the war will be won purely by strength in numbers, the voting population. These Red Herrings are usually tied to the heart of those unwavering ideals and principles. And they are not just about gay marriage, pro life/choice, and stem cell research. They tend to be more about pro government versus pro individual. As a believer in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, if I stay away from the Red Herrings, I am choosing to be apathetic and complacent which is why our country finds itself on the brink of socialism (or progressivism or whatever you try to label it). I find myself yielding. Thomas Jefferson stated that "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."

And here we stand. The Impasse. Liberty facing Big Government. Freedom facing Dependence. Libertarian facing Socialist. We will respect you as a fellow human being, as a creature of God, deserving of love and compassion. And we will respect your freedom, freedom to have your liberal opinions. But we will not respect what you want to do to this great nation. We will not compromise freedom any longer. We will raise our voices the same as you and we will prove to the world that Americans believe in liberty. Government cannot, and never will be able to, give us liberty or freedom. They will only succeed in taking it away when they exceed the limits the original founding fathers tried to establish. They knew all to well what to expect. We must stand firm and take back our freedom. We will fall and we will get hurt. We will lose and we will suffer consequences. But eventually we will also prosper and succeed as a whole and return ourselves to a nation of reverence and respect.

If there ever was a time to stand up and be heard, it is now. SAVE AMERICA! TAKE BACK FREEDOM!

Jacko Day

Obama should make MJ's death a national holiday. He owes a lot to MJ for diverting the main stream media's attention away from a lot of pretty important things going on right now. Or is this a case of the media taking advantage of a situation to justify for themselves the turning of a blind eye and deaf ear to some of the negative feelings being directed at the administration? Either way, Obama once again is getting a pass in the main stream when he should be having to answer some serious questions. A THIRD Stimulus? Because they didn't realize how bad the economy really was? Because the SECOND Stimulus isn't working as well as the rosy picture they were painting only weeks ago? Even some Democrats are getting nervous about all of this spending. Imagine that, a Democrat getting nervous about the government spending money. To further support Ben's post about the 'Beginning', I think politicians are starting to recognize who their bosses are. I also think they may finally be listening to their constituents who are all saying enough is enough. I hope this will ultimately kill the Cap and Trade Tax hike and curtail health care talks to the point that they get shelved once again. To paraphrase the Declaration of Independence, when the government fails to work for the people, it is up to the people to throw out the government and install a new government that does work for the people. Keep up the good fight and don't be afraid to throw out the governors that are allowing our system to fail the people. Don't be afraid to stand on your own and be independent. Don't be afraid to struggle and succeed without the government taking care of everything for you. Give us liberty or give us death, for without liberty we are only existing, not living.

Unemployment - 20%

New unemployment data shows how the true unemployment rate may be significantly higher than what is being reported, possibly as high as 20%. It would appear that administrations, past and present, have manipulated the way the unemployment rate is calculated making direct correlations from past to present difficult. I have always questioned how the unemployment numbers factored in all the different unemployment scenarios, including those capable working but not wanting to be employed to those no longer actively looking due to a loss of hope. 1 in 5 is a big number and is a little closer to what I am personally experiencing than 1 in 10.

The Beginning...




We had "America's Tea Party" at South Fork Ranch in Dallas this Saturday. There were an estimated 37,000 people in attendance. I was one of them.

Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end for this administration... and the Congress who supports it.

Saving Freedom

I am reading Jim DeMint's new book "Saving Freedom." I would encourage everyone who cares about liberty and their personal unalienable rights to freedom to read this book. If you have not read the "Declaration of Independence" in a while, I would encourage you to read that as well.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

233 years have passed and I honestly feel that we are close to where it all began. We need to dust off the "Declaration of Independence and reissue it to our destructive and counter productive governments. We need to abolish our current rule, the new royalty. We should institute a new government by dusting off the Constitution and reinstating it in it's original form, not the trumped up interpretation we have today.

Dolley, I am with you 100%. Read "Saving Freedom." Jim DeMint does an excellent job of explaining how we have gotten where we are, logically and straight forward. At least South Carolina can claim one politician worthy of some praise.

It's an American Thing, Stupid

The title of course is a play on the famous campaign slogan of Bill Clinton and James Carville, "It's the Economy Stupid". It was amazingly effective and delivered the White House to the Democrats for the first time in 12 years. It is time to move past the individual and driving force of how much money we have in our wallets. It is time to stop being consumed by one issue.

I believe though, that we as Americans are at a cross roads and that the lines delineated between us by the extremes on both sides will no longer be accepted. It is time for us to GROW UP and stop fighting about our labels.

It is time we recognize that our stated goals are much the same, though we differ in the manner and plan in which we want to achieve said goals. It is prudent to examine history and take a lesson from the success and the failures of the past, remember that "there is nothing new under the sun". Thus, the most alarming thing about what is going on in Washington is not the stated goals, but the manner in which we are pursuing them. The course of action we are taking in almost all areas has been proven ineffective, counterproductive, and dismal failures when tried in the past. Why then are we seeking to implement failed policies? I believe it is simply a matter of POWER. Stated goals and outcomes are not the real concern of the Washington bureaucrats, they want CONTROL. They want to decide what you do, how you do it, what you make, how you live, where you live, and they will not stop until they control and regulate every thing you do - see THEY know best. This taken to its logical conclusion is tyranny and the American Spirit will not abide the chains of slavery.

What do we need? We need Common Sense, we need Public Servants, we need the end of Politics and a return to the Principals of our Founding Fathers. Instead of Democrats and Republicans let us all become Constitutional Americans. These are the principals we can agree on:

Take care of the Helpless and stop funding and enabling the Clueless

Protect the Earth in a Common Sense manner

Peace through strength

Protect and close our borders - deport illegals

Educate our young people - train them in professions or send them to college

Any legislation, regulation or rule should have to pass Constitutional muster

Stop Judicial Activism

Stop wasteful spending

Remove and repeal rules and regulations that stifle business and job creation

Build safe and efficient nuclear power plants and allow access to the vast oil deposits in our country

Privatize government functions not authorized by the Constitution

Cut taxes

Balance the budget

Pay off our debt

Create a business environment that enables the American Spirit and Ingenuity to thrive - we have to start MAKING things.

Tell the rest of the world they will no longer have Military welfare - all of the countries in the world do not devote a huge percentage of their budget to defense, they rely on the USA to spend all the money and thus are on Military welfare - all nations must maintain adequate military defenses or start sending us money or forgiving debts owed them by our previous spending.

Term limit all government elected officials- this removes the permanent elite ruling class and motivates politicians to do the right thing for the country instead of the thing that gives them power.

These are American ideals and we need to stop fighting, stand together, and make the change. We must demand results from our legislators and other elected officials. We must no longer be disengaged from the public arena. We must stop with the prohibition to discuss religion and politics amongst ourselves. We must learn to engage one another with respect and intellect and common sense. We must stop tolerating lies, half truths, and spin from our partisans and elected leaders and demand honesty and candor. It is time for us all to stop being partisan and start being Americans. If we fail to do these things we will sink into the ranks of the once great Republics that could not hold on to the ideals that made them great to begin with.

I for one, choose to fight for the America I believe in. Will you?

So the President looks towards California as a model for how we should deal with energy policy. But what has all of this over-regulation gotten California? It has gotten them in hot water and in a huge financial mess where they may have to start issuing I.O.U's rather than paying their bills. Is this what we want for the rest on the country? Do you think we should emulate the CA water policies too? Damn all the rivers for hydro electric power, divert it to irrigate land in an arid climate, pollute the hell out of the water flowing down the rivers and kill off the salmon that spawn in those waters... yep you gotta love that CA environmental thought leadership...

Racism by any other name is still Racism

From George Will: Although New Haven's firefighters deservedly won in the Supreme Court, it is deeply depressing that they won narrowly -- 5 to 4. The egregious behavior by that city's government, in a context of racial rabble-rousing, did not seem legally suspect to even one of the court's four liberals, whose harmony seemed to reflect result-oriented rather than law-driven reasoning.

Well I for one have to say that this is disturbing to say the least. I do not understand when racism is not racism. I've studied Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his writings and speeches. I can not see Dr. King being happy with the kind of decision the New Haven powers that be made in the first place. Dr. King wanted to be judged on equal footing, nothing more, nothing less. I am for all people being judged by the content of their character and their ability to do a job. Not based on their color of their skin, or gender.


Racism by any other name (reverse racism, please) is still racism regardless of who it is aimed at.
