Would we label George Washington?

To be sure, some folks are probably getting tired of my "conservative" posts and emails. In terms of current political events, I do not even know if I am comfortable with the "conservative" word. I am certainly proud to be called that. However, it is not about what jersey you wear, political party, popularity, polls, race, certain hot button issues, or liberal vs. conservative etc.

It seems to me that it is about the state of our republic. What about the constitution? Our great nation exists and functions based on law (documents) such as The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and The Bill of Rights. We are not a Democracy (majority rule), or some other form of government. If logically stating fact labels me as some "right wing conservative", then I will live with it.

My sincere prayer is that our republic lives on as intended by the founders, the framers, and the law for which they sacrificed so much.

Best Practices

Audacity of Logic our blog name - dedicated to exploring the logic and the facts behind issues of the day. So let us endeavor into another corporate buzzword that has been adopted into our lexicon. Best Practices - this one perhaps embodies a degree of common sense that others of its ilk have not done. It is not terribly fancy sounding and I seriously doubt that anyone uses it to make themselves look smart. Our Government and Corporate America are full of blowhard pretenders that hide their minimal intelligence and incompetance behind veils constructed of the latest catch phrases, can you say "Customer Centric" or "Social Justice"? In the case of Best Practices, though, the principal and thought behind it is actually not far fetched and for once, makes sense.

In all affairs; personal, professional, and governmental the examination of what works and what does not is nothing more than common sense. Why then do so many disregard this basic premise and proceed willy nilly down a path of failure or worse one of complete destruction? My Mother has a saying, "Those who do not listen, must feel." She is of course very wise in this regard.

It is frustrating to watch a loved one go down the wrong path, specifically if you yourself have recently done the same and tried to warn them of the pending outcome. It is nerve wracking to watch your company go down paths of futility and usually send me on a job search.

In the public arena where the stakes are higher and the costs are immeasurable we have an entire political class that constantly and consistently leads our local, state, and national government down the road to ruin. Our government is no longer concerned with doing things well and more concerned with doing things their own way. These ineffective measures have bankrupted us at all levels. We can no longer afford their arrogance and complete disregard for what actually works.

Economic stimulus - taxes and government spending have NEVER worked. Tax cuts and putting money in the hands of taxpayers and corporations have ALWAYS worked. Why are we doing the opposite?

Health Care - in states that have eased regulation on insurance companies, instituted tort reform, promoted medical savings accounts, allowed collective buying for small business, and fostered an environment of competition and free market - they are successful. Socialized and heavily regulated medicine are DISMAL failures. Why are we trying to choose the path of failure?

Environmental - common sense stewardship of the Earth, with Man in his proper place as Master and Caretaker of the Planet and not the subject of it leads to growth, prosperity, and a betterment of our World. Illogical is the idealogy that says that Man is subject to the Earth and Human concerns must always take a back seat to the needs of the Earth. This policy can be seen in full display in the absolute destruction of the Timber Industry in Oregon and Washington. Decreased numbers of the all important Spotted Owl took precedence over the lifes and welfare of human beings. The richest and most prosperous counties in the two states a decade ago now host 25% unemployment and are now the poorest. That in and of itself is a tragedy, but when you find out the Timber Industry had NOTHING to do with the Spotted Owls decline in numbers it borders on criminal. Yes, folks, the Spotted Owl is being killed by a bigger, stronger, meaner owl - yet the Timber Industry remains idle and our people remain unemployed and the human suffering that goes with the debacle is immeasurable.

Show me what works and do that! Is it too much to demand from our elected officials that they stop the waste, the favors, the pay offs and actually do what works and what is right?

Nobody is Safe from the Left

Whole Foods appears to be a pretty dang good example of a company who tries best to do right by it's employees, local charities, and local industries (farmers/growers), and has a CEO who has acknowledged that he has enough money and chose to stop taking a salary and donate his earnings to good causes. Now, because he exercised a right to free speech and expressed his opinions on health care, following it up with his own suggestions, he is being eaten alive by his own people, so to speak. Some left leaning people apparently think their boycott idea will actually help the health care reform issue. Read the hyperlink closely and read the replies. The hatred of capitalism is all over it. We must take it to the corporate fat cats. In addition to a boycott, they are even advocating a "sell stock plan" to further hurt the company. While they do admit this may hurt the employees, they only concede that that could be cause for a time limited action. It's okay if we hurt them a little, they'll certainly understand having to suffer some for the cause. At the very least, the (proposal of a) boycott may actually be serving its intended purpose of hurting Whole Foods. At least hurting their brand perception if not sales. Now, throw in some labor union support (you can't leave them out of this opportunity) to really get the pot heated and stirred. Surely those unfortunate, uninformed Whole Foods employees would want a union if they really knew all the facts. Again, read the hyperlink and the replies. So much hatred. Talk about angry. And get all these people together in one place and it would surely be a mob. I tell you, I am beginning to believe that there is no friendship among these type of left leaning nuts. Each and every one of them would sell anyone they know (even their mother or father) down the river if they could better their cause or, even worse, if they ever disagree with them. Obama says that we are to be our brothers keeper. This kind of action and hatred can only be described with one word, SHAMEFUL.

Rules for the Non-Military

Kick Ass Rules for Civilians
(Passed on from a friend; author unknown.)

Dear Civilians: We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest- kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this nation great. Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass!

4. (GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues, telling others that you used to be Special Forces or collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old; now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask them, 'Do you fly a jet?' Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children are exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the US Coast Guard 'non-military', inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the U.S. flag) passes by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course; failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking.

8. Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or veteran. We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our party affiliation. Our Chain of Command includes the Commander-In-Chief (CinC). The President (for those who didn't know) is our CinC, regardless of political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet. All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out. If you keep asking us the same stupid questions repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked.

9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me - stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore would kick
your ass!

10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying 'Let's go kill those Commies!' And stop asking us where he is! Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me - if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I can go kick their ass!

11. 'Flyboy' (Air Force), 'Jarhead' (Marines), 'Grunt' (Army), 'Squid' (Navy), 'Puddle Jumpers' (Coast Guard), etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them could get your ass kicked.

12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families... every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get it's ass kicked.

It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.

It's the military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, and who, by his sacrifice, grants the freedom to the protester to burn the flag.

AND ONE MORE THING:

13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the National Anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS.

Did you ever wonder...

...how it's possible to save around $300 with EVERY car insurance company you can switch your coverage to, compared to EVERY OTHER car insurance company out there?

Mind boggling!

Did you ever wonder...

... about the irony of Obama's health care plan being
written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it,
passed by a congress that hasn't read it,
signed by a president who smokes,
funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes,
overseen by a surgeon general who is obese,
and financed by a country that is broke?

What could possibly go wrong?

Healthcare Reform - Start With Your Own Mouth

George and I just returned from the beach and I must say that I am absolutely appalled at what we saw. We have become a nation of Lard Asses. There is no nice way of putting it, as a nation we are disgustingly fat. There were more 300 pound women on the beach than there were women in shape. So as not be be accused of sexism, the men were bad, just not as bad as the women. I grew up at the beach and it is clearly getting worse.

Not only are we out of shape and fat - we don't seem to care. String bikinis and guts, thongs and cellulite, and the new trend - the top of the butt crack showing - nasty! Our family makes a trek to the beach once or twice a year and I am always extremely cognizant of my shape and attire. When I was heavier, I covered up! Black one piece suit with a sarong, silver jewelry, nails and toes done- I was heavy but I looked the best I could. I am obviously in the minority.

I believe instead of taking care of our own bodies and making the sacrifices and hard choices, we secretly despise those who are in shape. We scorn and stare at them as we stroll along the beach while they are sweating and huffing trying to finish a hard run. We scoff at the weird woman doing yoga at 6:30 am and go back inside and eat another doughnut. As a culture, we complain that airplane seats are too small and wait in parking lots blocking traffic to get 20 feet closer to the door.

This phenomenon crosses sex, age, ethnicity, and even body type. The biggest culprit?
I belive it is portion control. When did restaurants start serving platters to people instead of plates? George and I regularly split an entree and still take food home. We as a culture know very little about what to actually do to get this under control, we are looking for the quick fix, the pill, or the easy new diet. No one wants to hear diet and exercise. We cling to our favorite "diet" food, the salad - full of bacon, cheese, fried chicken, and gobs of ranch dressing, all served in a bowl larger than my Mother used to feed our family of FOUR.

As a culture, we must stop this gluttonous behavior and take responsibility for the size of our own guts. Health Care reform starts at home - at your own table, on your own plate, in your own mouth.

What is Bipartisan?

The Obama Administration and Liberal Democrats continue to hammer conservatives, especially Republicans, and label them as trying to kill health care reform and maintain the status quo. A NYT article that was likely written to help in that cause actually says some things that I think help the opponents of the current reform legislation the Democrats are trying to ram through Congress. Republicans have repeatedly offered ideas that would lead to true reform and true cost savings in the health care industry. Regardless of your political position, torte reform, interstate sales of policies, and tax changes allowing people personal choice with government assistance are not attempts at killing reform or maintaining status quo. They are valid ideas that deserve debate. However, Liberal democrats have one thing on their mind, the public option. Their idea of bipartisanship is everyone agreeing with them and letting them have what they want. If you do not agree, you are not being bipartisan and are ultimately an obstructionist. You obviously don't care about reform. You are opposed to the change so many people want and need. Really? Then why are the numbers against them. Public opinion is against them. And they are even faced with the task of convincing Moderate and Conservative members of their own party to side with them in order to have a chance at "going it alone" and cutting the Republican party out of the debate. I am not convinced yet that they won't be able to do it. But I feel very strongly that if they do, it will be political suicide and be the one thing that would likely cause them to lose control of the House and the filibuster killing margins in the Senate. When there is so much opposition, why not scrap the current plan and redraw it with all of the concerns of the majority of Americans being taken into account? Because, at the end of the day, a government plan that increases their influence on us and limits our freedoms another step towards socialistic reform is the ultimate goal and all they can see. So who is really killing bipartisanship? Who is really the obstructionist? Once again, the pot has called the kettle black.

Did you ever wonder...

... why it is that if you cross the North Korean border illegally you get 12 years hard labor, but if you cross the U.S. border illegally you get counted in the census, a driver's license, a social security card and free health care?

A Message on Health Care from Mr. Axelrod

I received an e-mail from Mr. David Axelrod and read it in its entirety. If you did not get it, you can read it here. You can even inform yourself via the whitehouse.gov website for "Reality Checks" and all the misinformation that they see going around. What I still do not see answered is how this will reduce health care costs. I see the bullet point telling me it will save money, but I am still trying to see how it will specifically reduce cost. Go ahead and make it 1200 pages for us detail types so I can understand. I do agree with eliminating the waste and corruption from current agencies. Let's get on with that today. But much of what I read will add cost to the insurance companies and health care system. Requiring insurance companies to abide by much of these ideas/mandates will force them to pay out more than they are currently paying, and we all know how cost increases are handled in a capitalistic world. When fuel went sky high, price of goods being delivered by truck went up. When corporate/business taxes go up, wages go flat (or down) or prices of goods go up (or jobs are lost). When frivolous lawsuits are rampant, reserves or insurance must be maintained to cover these cost and, once again the consumer eventually pays the price. One of two things must happen for these ideas to actually be successful. 1) Insurance companies reduce their profits and must look at ways to preserve earnings enough to stay profitable (shame on anyone in business who tries to make a profit), or go out of business, or 2) the government must subsidize the insurance companies to keep them profitable (they said they plan on stopping or significantly reducing that).

The real myth that I see is that the government will do this without a tremendous price tag attached, even better, with a savings. All I can see is that it will eventually result in higher taxes, direct or indirect, to me that will much more than offset any savings I can hope to experience with my health care bill. Some people will benefit from the health care well fare, but most will eventually find that they have once again been had by big government. By attacking the issues they identify, they do not eliminate cost in the health care system. Read all of them closely and use your own logic to understand why rates are higher for pre-existing conditions, coverage of serious illnesses, different genders for different illnesses, limited lifetime caps, guaranteed renewals, elderly, forced acceptance, etc., etc., etc.

The real issues that would eliminate cost are being swept under the mat in favor of more Barackracy. We must address frivolous lawsuits with tort reform to reduce malpractice insurance rates and the unnecessary CYA procedures that doctors are compelled to order. Heck, there are numerous industries this would help translating into sweeping reform across our entire industry base. We must require interstate sales of policies to increase competition. It made a huge difference on my auto insurance. We must allow people the freedom to choose a policy they feel is best suited for them and deal with the consequences of their own actions. If the government feels compelled to intervene, set up some form of assistance through tax credits are rebates for qualified participants that are truly needy, but I even question the positive effects of that in the long run (look at Medicaid). As the saying goes, “Show me the money”. Let me write off my insurance premiums like employers do with their cafeteria plans, that would help me out. I think I have heard a lot of these ideas mentioned. But where is the bipartisanship we were promised, the change in the DC politics status quo?

I am reasonably intelligent and logical. All logic shows me that there is a price tag associated with this that the CBO tried to inform us on and the supporters are trying to keep from us. Budget neutral my butt. So I did forward it in hopes of finding some supporters who can tell me (us) how these things will save health care dollars. In an ideal world, all of those things sound wonderful, even “too good to be true”. Remember what your mother taught you, if it sounds too good to be true, IT PROBABLY IS! I am open for debate, but bring some meat to the table. Not just feel good ideas. Prove to me that this will not cost money, jobs, or businesses, and result in a need for the government to take over health care like it did many banks, insurance companies, car companies, etc. and I will gladly accept it for the beauty that it is. Otherwise, get your hands out of my pocket. I work for what I have, I am responsible for my actions, I deal with my resulting consequences. So should everyone else.

Letter to the President

This was actually written by an acquaintance of mine and the original was forwarded to me by my mother who used to work with the author. Obviously the author's name has been deleted, but the content is all original.

President Barack H. Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear President Obama:

I have taken a keen interest in the incident involving Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. because a very similar event occurred to me a number of years ago. My incident occurred on Christmas Eve. My wife and I had been to my mother’s home for Christmas dinner and to exchange gifts and we were over there quite late and did not arrive back at our home until after 11:00 p.m. We live at the end of a cul-de-sac and our home is somewhat isolated because of that and we left no lights on that evening. When we arrived at the end of the cul-de-sac we saw a strange pick-up truck parked in our circular driveway directly in front of our front door. This frightened us because there had been several burglaries in the neighborhood in the previous two weeks and a strange pick-up truck had been seen in the neighborhood on those occasions. I immediately told my wife to go to a nearby convenience store and call the police. While she was doing that I hid in a wooded area near our driveway to try to get a license tag if the truck tried to leave. Fortunately, the police responded quickly and were on the scene in numbers within 8 or 10 minutes.

The officers basically surrounded our home and illuminated the area with floodlights. While this was going on I came out of the wooded area and apparently frightened several of the officers. Those officers actually pulled pistols and ordered me to the ground. I did exactly what they told me to do. I of course identified myself and tried to explain to them what I was doing in the wooded area; however, they did not appear to readily accept my explanation. Fortunately my wife arrived about that time and she, of course, identified me for the police officers.

Fortunately there was no burglary in process at my home. I found that out when one of the police officers looked in the pick-up truck and then began laughing. On the seat of the pick-up truck was a large Christmas card from three of my clients informing me that the pick-up truck was a gift from Santa Clause. The clients thought that my wife and I were inside asleep because all of the lights were out and they intended for me to find the truck the next morning.

I suppose that I could have gotten angry about being forced down onto the ground when I was at my own home. Two of the officers were black officers so I suppose that I could have accused them of racism or profiling. I might have even accused them of stupidity when they did not readily accept my explanation about who I was and what I was doing there. Frankly, I didn’t think of any of that. I was just happy that there was no burglary and that the fine police officers had responded so quickly and had taken charge of the situation. These officers showed absolutely no fear that evening even when they thought that burglars were in my home. I was proud of them and thanked all of them profusely. I told them that I felt a whole lot safer knowing that they were on the job and that they were able to respond so quickly to an apparent emergency situation. The thought never entered my mind to start accusing them of misconduct.

The very last thing I did before the officers left that evening was to give them a hug.

For some reason Professor Henry Louis Gates reacted completely differently. Rather than thanking the police officers for the service they provide he tried to provoke them by accusing the officers of racial profiling, racism, etc. He even confronted Sgt. James Crowley with street talk about “talking to your mama outside.”

When you found out about the incident you also reacted in an unusual manner. While admitting that you “did not have all the facts” you nevertheless announced to a national audience that the Cambridge police offers “had acted stupidly.” Why would you say such a thing, particularly when you did not have all of the facts? The answer quite simply is that you were friends with Professor Gates and the chip on your shoulder is about as big as the chip on Professor Gates’ shoulder.

Since the incident occurred, a lot of additional information about the incident has come forth. Contrary to the first report, the 911 caller did not identify the men as “black men.” She had no idea as to their race or color. She was just concerned because the men were using their shoulders to force entry into a house. Thank goodness she was civic minded enough to report this conduct to the police. By doing so she was trying to protect Professor Gates’ property.

The 911 caller has also been accused of racism and has been embarrassed and ridiculed because of that. At a press conference the other day this lady was asked about the conduct she observed on Professor Gates’ porch. She replied that there was a lot of screaming going on. She was then asked who was doing the screaming and she replied that “the police officers weren’t doing that.” She also stated that she did not see or hear the police officers do anything wrong. She was very careful however not to accuse Professor Gates directly of any misconduct because she clearly has been intimidated over the whole matter herself.

I don’t know whether there was any racism or racial profiling or stupidity going on on Professor Gates’ porch on the day of the incident or not; however, I hope not. I do know that the police officers were not guilty of any of that. Any racism or racial profiling came from Professor Gates or from your unfortunate comments the next day.

President Obama, wouldn’t this incident have ended up a whole lot better if Professor Gates had hugged the police officers and thanked them for their courage and commitment rather than turning on them? Wouldn’t we be a whole lot better off if you had gotten the facts and hadn’t made your “stupidity” comment? Our police officers and firemen are our finest citizens. They are underpaid and overworked and put their lives on the line every day to keep the rest of us safe, you and Professor Gates included.

President Obama, you and Professor Henry Louis Gates ought to be ashamed of yourselves!
Sincerely,

cc: Cambridge Police Department

Liberal Rantings or More Tactics?

"A lie told often enough becomes truth" Vladimir Lenin

William James - father of modern Psychology "There's nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it."

This is a tactic used with great effectiveness on both sides, but perhaps with even greater cunning on the left than the right. I say this not as a partisan but because I firmly believe the Left does not hold itself accountable to any standard other than their own. Whilst the Right, must answer to the Christians and if they are Christians themselves, well then they have to answer to the Lord. Make no mistake, all will one day "give an account of their actions and deed", but the ultimate and just judgment of the Lord is not the subject of this article (though I must confess to a certain peace and comfort that comes with recalling WHO is actually in charge).

Now, I may have misspoke, because it seems the Liberals do hold themselves to a certain standard, that laid out by Saul Alinsky, (if you are unfamiliar with this book dedicated to Satan and studied as gospel by Obama, see my numerous blogs on the suject). Saul Alinsky advised "make the other side live up to their own standards"- thus, the liberals can repeat a lie in a Talking Points that permeates the media and after hammering it in day after day, year after year, it becomes "truth".

Mark my words - Socialism will be tied as a code word for racism. I have heard it numerous times in the last few days, liberals espousing the view that those calling Obama and his plans socialism are actually really wanting to call him a N#*%$#@. Normal thinking Americans always reject the lie upon first hearing, but repeated enough times.....

The protesters are "mobs" of uninformed red neck racists. The protesters are not real Americans. The DNC machine is spouting these lies on an hourly basis and they will get away with much of it, too - unless the media begins doing its job. There are some stirrings of this in the market, perhaps the Fat Lady will not quite get to sing yet.

So I did a social experiment today, I must confess I reminded myself of a little child being forced to choke down something truly unappealing, but my fortitude was strong and I listened to some liberal talk radio and even read a few articles on ABC news and Salon.com. It was truly amazing, okay I admit it the ABC article was a link on Drudge and the Salon.com was a Facebook post by a conservative friend, the articles were actually encouraging because even the liberal media is starting to call the health care and domestic debacle as they see it. The talk radio was strictly my own doing and it was torturous.

The mocking of the people who hold views other than the ultra liberal was amazing. The host so deluded she said that people are upset about the health care plan because for the last 8 years the GWB administration scared the American people so bad they no longer trust the government. I swear, I am not making it up. This being said of a nation that was founded in rebellion to a tyranical government and king. George Washington said government is not benevolence, government is force and the Founders knew that when they constructed our forms of government. Ronald Reagan said the scariest words you could ever hear are, "I am from the government and I am here to help."

So no matter how many times they repeat the lie, it is still a lie. Remember that America.

A Taxing Situation

One Harvard Economist calls it the way I have been seeing it since day one of the stimulus package. Kenneth Rogoff sees taxes going up soon. He even predicts a national sales tax in the next three years.

"People just don't understand how much taxes are going to have to go up on the current trajectory we're on," he said. "People are still on the high that the government can back everything and not seeing what the costs are." - Rogoff.

A friend of mine opined that if we new how much of our money actually goes to the government in the form of taxes (income tax, property tax, gas tax, sales tax, sin tax, inheritance tax, etc.) we would probably find that we are already being taxed at a rate as high as most socialist countries. I am sure there has been a study done. Maybe someone can post a comment with the details of our actual tax load.

I guess most everyone has heard about the roller coaster that failed at a theme park in California Monday. We won't be so lucky. When this roller coaster ride we are all on fails, it's flying off the tracks baby. We have gotten too far out of control.

Warning Warning - Permanent Bureaucracy Ahead

As our faithful Audacity of Logic readers know, this blog is not the mouthpiece of the GOP. As the political wind blows we have in fact probably been more angry with them than the Democrats, because you expect that from them.

The below outlines 53 new offices created by the Health Care monstrosity. If it costs a dollar and lasts a day....

Can You Imagine if Geoge W Bush did this?

Let's play a little game of make believe shall we? Imagine a world where the press hammered Obama like they did GWB.... (Special thanks go out to George S, who posted some of these comments on an MSNBC comment site - kudos to George for taking on the libs where they live!)

Can you imagine if George W Bush had given a speech in Austria and referred to a non existent "Austrian" language?

Can you imagine if on an overseas visit GWB had mispronounce name of a foreign leader or had trouble with Putins correct title?

Can you imagine if GWB would have said he and Laura met at school instead of a friend's BBQ?

Can you imagine if GWB would have gotten is daughters age wrong?

Can you imagine if GWB would have made a joke about the Special Olympics?

Can you imagine if GWB would have tried to push through "pro-business" energy and staffed his entire department with former oil executives?

Can you imagine if after initiating said policy that he called out the oil unions to squash environmental protestors?

Can you imagine if Newt Gingrich had called environmental protestors astroturf, un-american, swastika carrying.....

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as “proof” of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on “Earth Day,” would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually “get” what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If the Inspector General of Americorp was fired because he was critical of a GWB fund raiser and supporter?

If GWB had said he planned to arm and mobilize citizens as well as the US armed services to "change" the country?

Can you imagine if GWB refused to produce an original long form birth certificate?

Can you imagine if GWB had been a follower and teacher of a book called "rules for conservatives" that was dedicated to Satan?

Can you imagine if GWB's mentor growing up was a communist?

Can you imagine if GWB was on film multiple times saying he was for eliminating private health insurance?

Can you imagine if GWB had bragged after passing a stimulus bill that did nothing for the country and was merely a political payback that "he had won"?

Can you imagine if GWB's preacher for 20 years was the head of the KKK?

Can you imagine if Sarah Palin said anything that has ever come out of Joe Biden's mouth?

Can you imagine if Sarah Palin plagarized and was caught?

Can you imagine if Dick Cheney quadrupled his net worth since leaving office by supporting a false scientific premise?

Can you imagine if Dick Cheney compared environmental concerns with fighting Nazism in WWII?

Can you imagine if Barak Obama had to water board THREE terrorists after 9/11 and uncovered life saving information, would you be mad?

Can you imagine if Newt Gingrich had accused the CIA of lying to congress on a regular basis?

Can you imagine if Dick Armey stood up and mocked members of Congress for demanding he read the bill he was voting on?

Can you imagine if Trent Lott had said, "Americans don't care about these "porky" parts of the bill, they demand action."

Can you imagine if a Republican Congressman's wife had been convicted on Federal corruption charges, been forced to resign from the Detroit City Council and absconding with over $21,000 in city equipment and funds? (Rep Conyers wife)

Let's keep it going - feel free to add your comments. I am sure by tomorrow there will be more to add....

I am sure there are more....

Uncle Sam's Plantation

Written by Star Parker, syndicated columnist. A good perspective on our slide into socialism through welfare programs.

Back on Uncle Sam's Plantation

The most difficult task we will face as a nation regaining our freedoms will be getting people who have, for generations now, become so dependant on the government to let go of the government teat and embrace the capitalist way. It will take some inner strength to go out on a limb that liberals constantly tell them is shaky and weak because of self absorbed, money hungry capitalist who just want to use people for their own gain and then spit them out broken and used up. Class warfare is a powerful tool and should be combated. I still struggle to understand the logic behind demonizing capitalist as they are the money generators in the world. Without them there would be nothing to tax for the secular progressives to use to take care of all the underprivileged people that are being taken advantage of by the money hungry capitalist. I digress. I always do when I talk about such things.

Something Just Isn't Right

Something Just Isn't Right

Folks, this is stuff straight out of a Frank Peretti novel. If you never read Frank Peretti I urge you to get "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness", they will open your eyes to the Spiritual warfare that goes on all around us. To think that these things are happening on a purely physical plane is foolishness and it leaves the good folks at a disadvantage. Let me tell you, the bad guys know exactly what is going on here.

Ephesians 6:12 (New International Version)

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The Angry Mob

Leaving work the other day, because you know I am one of those pesky tax paying Americans, I stopped in the lobby to say goodnight to my assistant. On the TV, Glenn Beck was playing the DNC video of the Town Hall citizens and calling them a GOP orchestrated mob. Folks, I mean to tell you, I lost my religion. I don't know if I can accurately convey to you what was going on in my spirit. Perhaps disbelief, anger, outrage, a sense of awe at the political strategy (because to a certain degree it is very successful), frustration, and a sense that this was one of the crookedest and dirtiest political ploys I had ever seen. What makes this all the more remarkable is that while it wears the veil of attacking the Republican Party, it is an attack on Americans. In a sane world, this will backfire on the DNC jackasses, but I have little faith that we are living in a sane world any longer. Although, the engagement of the American People has given me hope and not the Obama kind.

Below The Beltway

Is a blog (belowthebeltway.com) with an awesome header phrase...

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

How true, how true...
